But if we must reboot our beloved old favorites, it's much better to see it done like this, using the passage of time as an asset and a way into a different story about the same people, than as a cheap rehash...

The series should appeal to savvy teens who delight in mildly transgressive content and to those nursing their nostalgia like Daniel and Johnny do.

This series has an underdog spirit of its own, even if it's not quite the triumphant crane kick it could be.

This could all fall apart pretty easily... but right now I like the harsh tone and unsparing assessment of misguided men stumbling into something bigger than either of them.

I struggled with the premise of middle-aged white dudes reigniting their rivalry, but while I doubt I'll binge the first season, my interest has definitely been piqued.

By focusing on one of the original movies' bad guys and the fallout from the franchise's climatic moment, this smartly written and poignant drama is a surprisingly compelling watch.

The main reason it succeeds is that all involved had a vision for why they wanted to revisit The Karate Kid more than three decades later.

As Miyagi famously taught, Cobra Kai finds a balance, and it's between nostalgia and sacrilege. [Full Review in Spanish]

You might have a good idea of how all of these pieces are going to intersect, but the real fun is in watching these characters come together in interesting ways.

If Cobra Kai shows us anything it's that just because some characters are dated, it doesn't mean that they don't still have valuable stories left to tell - and when they're this good, they should be told.

What the series does to strike balance is not provide a real "Good vs. Bad" plot, but a more complex, realistic look into familiar characters, and backstory behind some new faces.

Dec 20, 2018 | Full Review…

It takes encounters with struggling teenagers to set them on better paths. If that sounds cheesy, it is - but Cobra Kai is aware of that, just as it's aware of pretty much everything it's doing. It's a funny, surprisingly thoughtful series.

Maybe a 6 or a 7? Saw it a while ago, and it's hard to say. Entertaining without taking itself seriously?

WARNING DOES INCLUDE SPOILERS FOR SEASON 1 and 2. This show is amazing. I am a big fan of the Karate Kid and when I saw the trailer for this I thought it would be rotten and a miss like the other two Karate Kid movies and most youtube original shows. However one night I decided to watch it and I have enjoyed it since. I was on the edge of my seat for the All Valley and I was very sad when Miguel got injured. Also that fight scene at the end was very well done and was awesome. Can't wait for season 3. HASHBROWN Cobra Kai

This is how to do sequels to a beloved franchise. Everything about this is true to the source material and is updated for the 21st century. I cannot wait for season 3.

Incrível, principalmente as cenas de luta, mas eu acho que o design dos personagens pode melhorar, assim ganhando 5 estrelas.

Great show. A bit too much cursing. My kids want so bad to watch this show but the language in it makes me turn it off when they are around. It would be the same show without it. Very imaginative on the character development, tho!

With the best way possible to continue the franchise, Cobra Kai got me excited. There was such a good blend of character development that made it so fresh and unique while also keeping a firm grasp on its nostalgia. Sure, it was a tad cheesy, but the rest makes up for it. I haven't seen this kind of reboot for a classic done so well for a really long time. It makes me happy.
