Critic Reviews for Biohackers Season 1

All Critics (5) | Top Critics (0)

Best of all, it gives its lead, Mia, more than enough relatable motivation to keep viewers intrigued as they discover how all the different strands of action fit together.

Sep 9, 2020 | Rating: 4/5 | Full Review…

The charm of the lead cast is worth watching the show for alone, and if you can be patient with the first two episodes, then you will watch the following four with excitement and ease.

Sep 9, 2020 | Rating: 3.5/5 | Full Review…

The whole thing has a Revenge, Count of Monte Cristo vibe that makes it enticing.

Sep 9, 2020 | Full Review…

We're giving it a marginal recommendation based on the charms of the cast.

Aug 21, 2020 | Full Review…

There's enough drama, I think, for a cautious recommendation, and the ease with which you can chew through the show means you haven't lost much if you stick it out and end up disappointed by the standard Netflix Original non-ending.

Audience Reviews for Biohackers: Season 1

  • Sep 21, 2020

Although its title and premise are more interesting than the series itself, Biohackers is very easy to watch, hooks you on, and makes your viewing journey light and entertaining. Although I expected much more, given its theme and the possibilities it offers, I am not dissatisfied or dissapointed either. The plot doesnt loose time, it always beat the rymth and Luna Wedler acting is very convincing.

The characters motivations don't really make sense. It required me to suspend my disbelief too many times to not be confused by the characters and story.

Germany is doing great at creating interesting series, which has been proved by the Biohackers. Original plot, interesting idea, unpredictable.
  • Aug 31, 2020
It is somewhat reminiscent of Orphan Black, but an original fast-paced story all to itself. I enjoy watching a short but great intentional series.
  • Aug 29, 2020
The storyline is highly predictable. There are no suprises, no suspense. Additionally, there are many plot holes, unlikely escapes and logical fallacies. Moreover, the topic (biohacking, gene editing) is not portrayed very accurately nor is it protrayed as morally ambigious. The storyline is that a woman who wants to change the world obviously has to do bad things in order for it to succeed. Change topic at will, works with everything. So far so boring. Additionally, they tried to insert some not working romance twist. Boring and unwatchable. The only way I can explain the other reviews is the lack of new content due to Covid-19.

I really enjoyed that series. There were so many twists in the story line, it was spellbinding. Great actors, most of them were new faces. The scenery around Freiburg, Germany where it was filmed is beautiful. I can't wait for the 2nd season. The series is entirely in German, no subtitles. It would be great to see an English version in the future.

I found the topic presented very topical and interesting. The actors are good, the young leading actress is very convincing. Exciting and well produced TV show. Hope for a second season soon!

It's a must see. Lots of suspence. Topic is actual yet sci-fi.
